Hand Chain Hoist Brake Failure

Causes and Troubleshooting Methods for Hand Chain Hoist Brake Failure

Brake failure during the use of a hand chain hoist is extremely dangerous. If this occurs, stop operation immediately and inspect the hoist's components to find the cause of the malfunction and resolve it promptly to ensure smooth operation. So, what causes hand chain hoist brake failure, and how can it be resolved?

1. Severely worn friction plates: When the friction plates of a hand chain hoist are severely worn, brake failure will occur. Therefore, the friction plates should be inspected regularly to keep their surface intact and clean.

2. Deformed guide wheels, broken teeth, or loose ratchet springs in the internal brake components of the hand chain hoist can cause brake failure. Operators need to replace the damaged parts and only continue use after inspection and verification.

3. Water or grease on the surface of the friction plates reduces friction and weakens braking ability, leading to brake failure. In this case, simply wipe off the grease from the friction plates.

4. Rust on a hand chain hoist can also cause brake failure, requiring replacement of severely rusted parts. During regular maintenance, apply appropriate lubricant to ensure smooth operation and apply rust-preventive oil to prevent corrosion. This will extend the lifespan of the hand chain hoist.
